From French fries and onion rings to wings and funnel cakes, commercial deep fryers are standard in most commercial kitchens. However, if they are used consistently, problems can occasionally pop up. There are a few diagnostic tips for most commercial deep fryers, and we at Pine Heights are here to help. Read on for some commercial deep fryer troubleshooting tips!
The Pilot Not Lighting or Remaining Lit
If the pilot is not lighting or staying lit on your commercial gas fryer, there are a few potential issues that could be causing it. They are:
- If the gas supply valve is clogged, closed, or not completely open, the solution is to open or clean the valve.
- The orifice is dirty – Brush the area to remove debris clogging the outlet’s hole.
- The gas hose is disconnected – If this is the case, reconnect the gas hose correctly.
- The drain valve is closed – It should be open so that the pilot light can fully engage.
- Thermopile isn’t working – Make sure to get in touch with an authorized technician to fix this problem.
- High-limit thermostats breaking – Hire an authorized technician to come fix the high-limit thermostat.
The Burners Won’t Light
If a fryer’s burners are not lighting or remaining lit, there are a few possible problems causing it. They include:
- Gas supply valve is closed, clogged, and not completely open – If this is the case, open and clean the valve.
- Burner orifice is filthy – Make sure to clean the area off with a stiff brush to remove the debris.
- The thermostat is set to low – Reset your thermostat to your the temperature setting you want.
No Power in the Commercial Deep Fryer
If your commercial deep fryer is missing power, check for these electrical problems:
- The power switch won’t work – A certified and authorized technician will have to repair or replace the power switch.
- The power cord is broken or unplugged – plug the cord back in. If it still won’t work and it’s showing noticeable damage, have it replaced by a technician.
- A tripped circuit breaker – if this has happened, reset the circuit breaker.
